Top Unique Web Design Trends For 2021 To Follow In 2022

As we look forward to stepping into 2022, every website and business must be looking to know what’s trending in the web design industry? Not to mention but every year the web design trends gets updated, the new ones are introduced – and sometimes last year’s trend retains!

Take a moment to think about the websites you’ve seen over the last few months. There is probably a handful that stuck out to you based on their user-friendly interface and appealing layout. The same goes for websites with a terrible user experience — they stick with you and might even leave you with a negative feeling about the brand.

When it came to design, we kept an eye on the never ending trends on the web. We put together a comprehensive list of some of the web design trends we expect to see well into 2022.

We hope this list not only inspires you, but makes you approach the web in a more inclusive and accessible way.

1. Retro fonts

We’ve seen many old things become cool again, and then in turn become even more uncool. Think handlebar mustaches and mom jeans. Irony has a short shelf life.

Retro fonts have experienced this same ebb and flow in their popularity, and many designs featuring vintage typography haven’t aged well.

However, throwback typography has gone through a bit of a resurgence. We’re not seeing the same tired fonts. Rather, stylization and a bit of artistry are reimagining what retro fonts can be.

As 2022 unfolds, we’re looking forward to seeing more creative typographic reimagining.

2. Parallax scroll animations

From micro interactions to particle backgrounds, we’ve witnessed the rising popularity of web-based animation trends year after year. 2021’s web animations are getting even more complex through the separation of page elements into foreground and background extremes, creating parallax effect.

But, Remember that too much movement in parallax effects can be harmful to people with vestibular disorders because the illusion of depth and movement can cause disorientation and dizziness.

Here are some guidelines we see more designers taking into account to ensure they incorporate parallax minimally and without causing harm:

  • Don’t let parallax effects distract from important information
  • Don’t make it harder for the user to complete an important task
  • Keep the number of parallax effects to a minimum
  • Minimize the amount of parallax movement within each instance
  • Constraining parallax effects within a small area of the screen
  • Include an option for users to turn off parallax effects

Next year we’re excited to see parallax scroll used subtly, not for flashy effect but as a tool to emphasize or highlight important bits of content.

3. Big & Bold Typography

The big and bold typography not only enhances the design but also makes the font clear enough to read. Well, it’s a new trend but the way it is widely adopted and accepted by websites, we don’t see it going out of trend in the near future.

It has all the potential to highlight the brand message, convey brand personality, and also offer a reason on how your web page is helpful. Keeping a balance between making the text too big and using small text will make your web page more interactive and accessible. But for that, you need to ensure that it delivers a strong value proposition.

Using the big bold typography might help you to make your customers curious about understanding the purpose of the message. But if the message doesn’t have any purpose then all your efforts can go in vain. The typography you use in your website will help you in achieving two different goals: delivering a brand message and grabbing more visitor’s eyes. Using the proper fonts and placing them in the right place will surely help youtube make your website more impactful. You Can also make use of the tools to create and select an attractive format for your website and mobile apps.

3. Gaussian blur

Gaussian blur works so well in providing a swirl of soft focus to images and gradients. This effect has been around for a while, but designers have been using this in more prominent spaces in web designs.

When the background has blurred the content over it can grab more eyes and engage more audience. Mainly when it is combined with the minimalist design then the gaussian blur effect makes sure that your site visitor gets a pleasant and calm experience while scrolling your web design. There are some of the websites that are using the Gaussian blur effect right from the beginning of their homepage, instead of the hero image. It’s all about the value it brings to your website. If your site visitors are satisfied then it will automatically optimize your website user experience.

We love seeing things that have been around forever, like gaussian blur, become more popular in the hands of designers who are using them in new and interesting ways.

4. Scrollytelling

We’ve seen a growing trend in designers telling stories through web experiences. This is where scrollytelling comes in — visual storytelling that heightens story and hooks you into its narrative.

Many website designers have started to adopt this designer that tells a story through a web experience. Yes, the scrollytelling falls under the UX trend but the UI designers can equally contribute their expertise to create a better web experience by offering a proper story about the brand and product.

Visual storytelling plays a crucial role in digital product design as it can help you to deliver your product information and features more effectively. Today many websites use visual storytelling in their landing page to grab the attention of visitors but many websites have already started to adopt it into their main website.

Here are some of the best practices for Scorytelling:

  • Keep motion within a small area.
  • Provide interactions on the user’s terms: provide obvious playback controls to play / pause / stop interactions and motions.
  • Make sure that any scrollytelling elements help to emphasize the story, rather than distracting from important text.

5. Cartoon illustrations

There was a time not that long ago when websites were just text and a few images or graphics. Web design has evolved, with designers now creating work that connects with people on a more personal level. Cartoon illustrations have gained popularity as a way of transforming websites with a healthy dash of humanity.

There are so many sources out there and artists crafting fantastic cartoon illustrations. It offer so much in terms of creativity and making a brand more personable.

We’re looking forward to seeing a growing cast of characters throughout web designs in the coming year.

CONCLUSION

Paying close attention to these web design trends while creating your website can help you in the product more effectively and conversion-centric. But most of the time the website design created by the business fails to have some of these elements. That is the reason why it’s recommended to partner with an experienced website company that can help you to create a research-based design that meets your potential customer expectation and encourages them to take action.
